Youth Messenger Vol 42. No. 4
Born with a Purpose

Dear friends,

I remember, as a child, dreaming to becoming a mechanic like my father. I looked up to him; it was the highest standard I could compare myself to and all I wanted was to be the best, as my dad was. I didn’t know there was a higher standard I could reach until I got to compare myself to others whom I believed had even more respectable jobs or positions, like my teachers and the mayor of the town.

Then I met Jesus, who has taught me that higher was not high enough and better was not good enough. He convinced me that I should not be thinking in comparative but in superlative terms, that I should strive to reach the highest and to be the best, the maximum of my potential, the purpose He had for me since my birth. It took a lot of personal struggle and disappointments, but as I was introduced to the message of Christ Our Righteousness presented in Minneapolis in 1888, I understood that my purpose is clear and that the resources to fulfill it are unlimited as long as I trust the source, Jesus Christ.
